Its no secret. I love coffee.
Over the last 6 months or so, I have increased my coffee intake from one coffee each morning, to 2 or 3 cups a day.
I’ve been away from home for almost a month now, and I can honestly say the only nights I’ve had a full night of sleep was last weekend when Andrew was here.
Now, perhaps I just can’t sleep without Andrew… but I also think that maybe my increased caffeine intake has something to do with it.
I only had one cup of coffee yesterday. Although I felt like shit all morning, I did sleep a little better last night.
Day #2 of one cup of coffee was today, so we shall see how the sleep factor goes this evening.
Does too much caffeine impact your sleep patterns?

I use to think that caffeine didn't affect my sleep, however for a good 2-3 months I was having horrid sleep. I decresed my caffeine intake to 2-3 coffees a week and my sleep has been better ... oh ow I miss my coffee though!!
I find it dramatically affects my sleep. However, that said..you'd think I'd deal with it right? HA
Back in the fall I eliminated coffee altogether and felt soooo much better. I am very sensitive to caffeine and was waking up "nervous" Once eliminating coffee, I was always even and calm and sleeping well each night.
Unfortunately, I started drinking coffee again..and am up to 2 or 3 cups in the morning and it's affecting my sleep patterns for sure.
I need to try to go back to my green tea and honey.
Coffee definitely affects my sleep. I seriously can't drink a cup of regular coffee without sleeping very restlessly the night after. An Americano (or latte if you like) has half the caffeine of regular coffee. Basically two shots of espresso = one half cup coffee.
Yes! When I was younger (before I hit my 30's) I used to literally be able to have a cup of coffee right before going to bed. Now if I have any coffee after 6pm (my usual bedtime is 11:30pm) I am asking for trouble. So now I have my one cup in the morning...with real cream and sugar, it's my one indulgence that I won't give up.
Yup...definitely. I don't do any caffeine after 3-4pm (earlier if I can help it) cuz it can totally bugger up my whole night.
It's tough to cut back but once you can get a week or so under your belt, it's all good.
I should take my own advice.
Coffee totally affects me. I onlt drink one cup, usually a homemade latte, and it has to be before noon. I am more of a tea drinker, and lately I am drinking that later and later in the day, which is probably why my sleep has been so awful! I used to not drink tea after four....I should go back to that!
Good luck with detoxing! DO you have a headache?
I've gotten in the habit of drinking 2 "cups" a day - and by "cups" I mean travel mugs...so really for "cups" of coffee. On a bad day that would become 3 or 4 travel mugs!
As long as I suck it all down before about noon I have no problems sleeping. But if I dare take a single sip in the afternoon I will not be able to sleep a wink!
Crazy that you posted about this because they did a story on caffeine last night on the news. I only have one caffeine drink a day and in the morning of course. It might be a cup of coffee or a diet cherry pepsi but that's it. The news was saying caffeine can lead to restless sleep, depression etc. It was interesting!
No, my husband's snoring impacts my sleep patterns! I have to keep an industrial-sized box of earplugs by the bed.
I don't drink much coffee, but the last time I drank some at night, I couldn't sleep AT ALL for a few days. I was posting things like, "Sleep is for wimps!" on my Facebook status, in my sleep-deprived state. Usually it doesn't seem to affect me much at all.
Hi Amy

I wish it didn't but it does. I can't have anything caffeinated (including Diet Coke or green tea) after 4 p.m. or I can't sleep.
It never used too... old. age.
Caffeine from coffee really doesn't seem to affect me, nor from drinks like Diet Coke. I think it takes a large dose of caffeine to do so - for instance, I once accidentally took some congestion medicine that contained a lot of caffeine right before bed, and I could not fall asleep all night. So I think if I drank a lot more coffee than what I do, it would probably be a problem.
