I came to terms with a few things today.
I had a heart to heart via email with my dear friend Lisa.
She pointed out to me that I need to make certain things a priority in my life, and its perfectly okay to let the gym take the back seat.
I haven’t blogged too much about the upcoming couple of months. I’m going to be relocating temporarily until the end of July for work. Andrew will be staying in Ottawa. It was a very hard decision for us to make, but its an amazing career opportunity and I feel very fortunate to have been selected to work on such a high profile project. I will be completely swamped with work, and I think the gym will absolutely HAVE to take the backseat. I might as well come to terms with this now.
I also wrote to Lisa about my lack of self control when it comes to my food consumption. She reassured me that clearly I do have some form of self control or else I would weigh 300lbs.
You know what? She’s right. I do have self control. I do have a healthy lifestyle. I am in great shape.
Its just amazing how an indulgent weekend can take you out of the correct healthy living mindset.
I planned to skip the gym today. When I arrived home I did an hour long power clean, threw some salsa chicken in the slow cooker, then grabbed Jersey and headed out for a walk.
I love walking with Jersey. There is something incredibly relaxing about just watching her smiley face. When she looks up at me with her bring brown eyes, it absolutely melts my heart. We walked for an hour and 10 mins in total.
Onto dinner. One word: a-friggin-mazing!
Couscous pilaf (peppers, mushrooms, onion) salsa slow cooker chicken topped with greek yogurt and 1/2 an avocado. I ended up chopping up the avocado and mixing everything together. DIVINE!
I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you. I’m so lucky to have a constant support system when times get tough. Not everyone can understand the psychological side of weight loss, so its nice to be able to share my feelings with people that ‘get it’.
THANK YOU! xoox

Hey girll..you are totally right.
Not all of us have the ability to have jobs where we can work from home and ALWAYS schedule in an hour of work outs... for some of us...it just ISN'T possible. Doesn't make us less healthy or less in shape then the next :)
Your dinner looks fab tonight! Yum!
Lisa sounds awesome, I'm glad you have a friend like her.
Hopefully Andrew can come visit you on the weekends if you are too busy to go home.
It;s tough, but it is an awesome opportunity and you will cherish your time together so much more when you are back to living together full time (trust me).
p.s I walk over an hour a day..that basically has been my excersise during busy work weeks :)
The best thing about being married, I think, has been having someone who supports my dreams - whether it was moving across Canada (or back again!) and encouraging me to be the best me possible - this opportunity and the fact that you decided togther for you to take it is you giving each other the chance to be the best you possible. Being alone also helps you appreciate the things you have even more. You'd be surprised how it might help you grow as a couple, when you have to learn how to be with and without each other.
As for workouts, you will find a way - either DVD's, stairs at work, or something else. Taking time for you, even in the midst of a big project, will help you stay focused, even if it is only ten minutes here or there.
You are going to be great!
Yay for Lisa! Sometimes you just need to talk it out.
We love you Ames! mwah.
It's hard when work makes working out take a backseat, but yeah it happens. You look fantastic and even just getting out for a walk with your pooch is something. You have a great outlook!! Keep up the inspiring posts!
Thank goodness for great friends to talk us through our moments :)
I'll kick your butt while you're here. Have no fear :)
I'm so glad you came to those realizations! You definitely DO have a healthy lifestyle, and it helps to remind yourself of that every once in awhile :)
Thanks for the inspiring post!
While I think it's important to prioritize exercise, there are just sometimes in life when it cannot be the front runner. It just cannot. You have to put your overall health first - even if that means you aren't able to work-out as much! Good decision.
Congrats and good luck with the job opportunity!
What a good friend you have in Lisa. Wishing you much luck with your new job. Keep well.
Wishing you all the best in this new position. Its hard to let something slide even when we love it so much, but I'm sure you will find a way to deal with the stress of being away from home and stick some type of exercise in.
And that dinner looks delicious!!
Ya know, since I've had to take a step back from my "usual" mindset about weight loss it has given me a new perspective about it and not only me but "us" in the whole thing.
I look at you and I see a complete success. COMPLETE. You take GREAT care of yourself, eat healthily 90% of the time, which still allows you to be human AND you always enjoy exercise and it is a big part of your life. I agree with Lisa. You DO have self control because you've been maintaining a range of weight that you can sustain and still lead a happy and healthy life! You'll never be close to 300 lbs Ever.
There is nothing wrong with where you have exercise as a priority in your life at all, but you're wise to start preparing yourself for a change for a while. It's perfectly ok and I know you'll STILL exercise, but balls to the wall won't be a requirement every day! ;-)
You're probably the most fit person that I know...in fact, I'm sure you are. You get in exercise almost EVERY SINGLE Day and from what I see, you eat a very well rounded diet. It's not like you eat mini-eggs every day, or mow through an entire bag of popcorn, or have demolished several pizzas a week...You take good care of yourself and it shows.
That's is life Amy, one day at a time, and do your best. With my crazy busy life having two businesses, a family and also doing accounting for my client in town, I do my best with the life I have.
By the way, what is your pizza crust recipe, do you buy it already made?
Thanks and love your pics of your pets, they are so similar to mine it's awesome :)
your so lucky to have the neibourhood to walk around for an hour in, and a dog to walk with, I have all highway yuck!
Dogs make the best work out partners!
