Itchin’ to get out

Its another GORGEOUS day here in Ottawa.

*Note, the temperature on the top of my thermometer is the temperature inside my house. The bottom one is the temperature outside!

As a result of the gorgeous sunny day, my two feline friends were itching to get outside.

I opened the door and let them out. They didn’t make it too far before coming back inside. They lack outdoor survival skills!

I missed the gym AGAIN today. My job is starting to make me fat dammit! I had great intentions of making it there, but my boss wanted me to look after something before I left. I was happy to oblige, as it was a perfect day for running.

I got dressed and was getting these eyes through the back door.

You know how most dogs get excited when you say the word walk? Jersey gets excited when she see’s my green Running Room jacket. She got clearance from the vet  to start running again, so we hit the road for a solid 5k. I took it easy for the first half, and was fast like a cobra for the second half. During the last few minutes, I always put on a power song. Of late, this power song has been Andrew Spencer’s version of Zombie. Any Goodlife members have heard this song in just about every Les Mills Class. I love it. Once I got back home, my heart rate was still through the roof so I took a tour a round the block and rocked out to Sloan’s Everything You’ve Done Wrong. Such a great song to cool down to and maybe sing out loud… hey only Jersey could hear me!)

IMG_3012Dinner was fahhbulous. I saw a vegan Shepherds Pie recipe over at Healthy Tipping Point earlier in the week and had to have it.

In the mix:

  • 8 oz ground turkey
  • minced garlic
  • mushrooms
  • frozen mixed veggies
  • thyme
  • oregano
  • parsley
  • salt and pepper

Topped with 2 mashed sweet potatoes and baked at 425 for about 30 mins. I loved the flavours, especially the thyme. There’s something about poultry and thyme that rocks!

On the side I had some more parsnip fries. I think I’m getting addicted. Very similar to the brussel sprout addiction. I’m afraid.

I’m off to enjoy some couch time with my hubs. Night!

Auh so glad that Jersey is feeling better!
Way to go on your run, I'm heading out myself tonight, it's warm and not snowing...gotta go :-)

Dinner looks yummy!

Hehe, poor kitties. My Rolo would love to be an outdoor cat but he's too much of a softie :-)

Sounds like a great run!

Does that say 4.5°C? It got up to 9 here today. :-D

One of my cats takes off if he manages to get outside. He's pretty sure he's supposed to be an outdoor cat, but I disagree. The other cat can be found at the door crying desperately to get in if I put him on his leash outside and he got off of it somehow.

Dinner sounds great, but I hate to tell you, if it has TURKEY in it, it's not vegan. I assume you adapted it, but it made me giggle. Enjoy the beautiful weather!

I hear you! I am itching to get out over here too. I actually saw two girls rollerblading today! Definitely a positive sign of spring and melting snow. Don't you think?
