Can’t you Google it?

What a weird day today was.

You may or may or not know what I do for a living. I am a contracting specialist. Contracting in general requires a lot of interaction with the client, some of which are challenging to my temper.

Today I called a client to confirm a delivery address and she said  in the most sarcastic condescending tone over: “Well Amy, can’t you Google it?”

I just about lost it on her right then and there. But like a good contracting my office I remained calm with her over the phone, but slammed the shit out of my phone when I hung up.

Needless to say, but the time 4:00pm rolled around I was ready to get the hell out of dodge.

Look at how warm it was in Ottawa today!

I even ran in capris today!

I decided to show some Canadian pride whilst sweating up a storm. Andrew will probably kill me when he see’s that I ran in this hat. He gets so mad, because I always ruin my hats as I’m a verrrrry salty sweater.

I wish I could report I had an amazing run. Truth be told, it was horrible. I ended up doing 5k, but it sucked. Ah well, it was better than sitting on the couch eating pretzels right?

Dinner tonight was divine.

IMG_2952

Broccoli stuffed chicken breast, roasted potatoes, and shredded brussels.

The potatoes were awesome. I coated them with a little canola oil and tossed them in Epicure Cheese Potato Topper and cooked them on my Pampered Chef Baking Stone. I swear, cooking them on a baking stone makes them turn out PERFECTLY.

I posted about this guy around Christmas. Its a Slicer Plus from Home Hardware. I got is as a gift from my MIL. Its amazing for shredding brussels quickly!IMG_2949

After dinner, I had to do a little running around. I had to pick up a couple more things for the lovely Krissie’s package. (its been mailed tomorrow!)

Look what I found:

 IMG_2953

Funny, I couldn’t find it anywhere over the holidays and today there was a HUGE display of it.

I made myself a cup of Candy Cane Lane to enjoy in lieu of my nightly hot cocoa. Pretty tasty! How cute is this mug? :)

IMG_2956While I was out, I witnessed a horribly rude woman lose it on a cashier for not cutting the tag off her sunglasses. I should note, it was 8:30pm and pitch black outside.

She was totally making a scene, and it actually prompted me to intervene. I took the polite route first, and then she verbally attacked me. I proceeded to ask her if it makes her feel like a better person by giving the cashier a hard time. Then the ladies behind me jumped in and there was pretty much a brawl a Shoppers Drugmart! The other people in line actually started applauding when she left the store. My heart really went out to the poor cashier, I was in her exact shoes a few hours earlier. She handled it like a pro though!

Have you ever witnessed something similar?

I’m off to watch Lost. I’m not even sure why I bother anymore.. LOL.

People are idiots. I deal with the public on a daily basis (I work in healthcare) and I am amazed on a daily basis how rude and inconsiderate people are. Unreal.

We literally had a patient threaten my manager once because he couldn't help him on call. Really. He said he was going to punch him in the face.

And I worked retail for years before that so I have seen it all. Amazing how it ruins your outlook on the general public.

It was warm, here, too. I am getting some serious spring fever.

About a month ago I was in EB games and a 12yr old boy totally started throwing a temper fit on his mother when she would only buy him 3 video games and not 4. He started knocking over some display boxes and totally disregarded his mother asking him to stop. I intervened and told him he was lucky he wasn't my son because after seeing such nonsense behaviour he wouldn't be getting any new video games and would lose all of the ones he already had. He was surprised I spoke up and went to the corner of the store to sulk. His mom actually thanked me when she walked out (after deciding he would get NO video games and the money would be donated to Haiti relief).

I applaud you for sticking up for the poor cashier... I bet she appreciated it!

My mom sent me a card once with that cartoon on it. I laughed so hard. She always buys bahing suits with a little ruffle and calls it "her style". The card was perfect! hahaha! elenti

Hey Amy,
I'm sorry that you had a rough day.
I have that same potato topper. Is the PC baking stone the same as a pizza stone? I tried tossing in oil and topper and just baking the wedges on a regular pan, but I wasn't that blown away by the seasoning. Usually I use a rosemary, thyme mix from Pampered Chef (I love this - had it tonight...I also like it on popcorn).

I also love the Candy Cane Lane tea. I love the limited holiday blends (I also loved the Nutcracker sweet or whatever), but hate that they're limited! Last time I saw the CCL at Safeway, it was on sale "While quantities last", so I went ahead and bought their entire quantity - 10 boxes! I opened number 2 tonight. I think it'll last me a while!
I hope you have a great sleep. Tomorrow will be a great day!

Good for you for speaking up; I'm not sure I would have been able to do the same! I really dislike nasty people; don't take out your bad mood on everyone else. Oh, and FYI -- you're NOT better than the rest of the population!

Only 10 more episodes of Lost, surely you can make it through! :-D

Good for you for speaking up at Shopper's Drug Mart!

Almost 20 in Ottawa? That's amazing!

Oh honey, I know how you feel. I work in a call center for Health Insurance. Let me tell you that it is not the greatest in the world sometime. Better then my old job as a bill collector though! I feel for ya!

You're a rockstar for speaking up! I work in hospitality so I see how rude people can be quite often. Just because we're providing a service doesn't make us servants! I've had to bite my tongue so many times while being blamed for something out of my control.
I hope that the next time I find myself in a similar situation I have the guts to say something!

As someone who has worked in retail and dealt with monsters like this woman clearly was, I totally admire you for standing up to her! There should be more people like you.

Boo to that lady. Good for you for stepping in.

As for Lost, I don't watch it but I hear it's confusing. It's how I feel about Biggest Loser. Why bother? Lots of acting and it's actually boring now.

Google this is my response.
Good for you for inciting a brawl in the name of common decency.

Pampered Chef stones are my favorite thing EVER!

I got a bunch of Celestial Seasonings holiday teas at Walmart a few weeks back, they were all marked down to $2!

And yeah, I've been on the receiving end of many of those outbursts, back in the days when I worked in hotels. Not fun!

I hate it when people think that they have some right to walk all over those in retail. Poor cashiers usually get the worst of it. I love that you started a brawl in the cashier's defense :)
Those potatoes look yummy!

Love Epicure. Love Pampered Chef. Love that you spoke up.

Good for you for intervening! You probably saved that cashier a lot of grief!

gah! that was super cool of you to step in and say something! I used to work as a cashier and you wouldn't believe the stuff some people would say to me...from "do you wanna take a ride on my hershey highway" (wtf?!" to "c'mon you can give that to me for free, right??"

I swear people go batty when it's a full moon. I had a client go a step further on Friday and it totally ruined my weekend.

Good for you for getting out on a run. Even if it sucked, it must have felt fantastic. They weather was amazing yesterday and it's only going to get better!

I love those teas - so good. And Epicure! I haven't tried that topper, I'll have to get an order in soon.

Unfortunately I have witnessed incidents like that. There was the big guy in a grocery store once and he was totally belittling this young cashier (she couldn't have been more than 16 or 17). At first I was shocked that no one in the line said anything. There was like 3 or 4 people in front of me, and lots of men around. I finally couldn't take it anymore and stepped in and said something. He was easily twice my size but in my mind he had major insecurities to be picking on this young girl without reason. He backed off and left the store and the cashier thanked me. Poor thing had tears in her eyes. I'm terrified of actually getting in a fight, but I just can't fathome standing by and not saying anything. I'd totally regret it later if I didn't.

I have witnessed stuff like that so many time! I always defend the customer service person because I have done customer service work too and wished someone would defend me when I couldn't say anything to the customer.

He keeps talking to me in a condescending tone and like im stupid, argues with me when i know im right (ive been working there my whole life its my parents company and he's been there 4 months) and keeps blabbing how he went to mcgill bla bla ( um...so did i buddy,it wasnt THAT hard, lol) ...i seriously want to tell him that having a shlong hanging between his legs doesnt make a difference here in quebec! lol.
