Arc-Trainer Madness

Hey bloggies! I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but holy frig I’ve been busy at work. It hasn’t been all sugar and spice, but I guess I’m coping ok.

I did something out of character today. I went shopping for some new dress pants for work. For the first time in a LONG time I bought pants without caring about the size. Usually I get so hung up on the size, I leave empty handed if size “X” doesn't fit. Today size “X” was too tight in the thighs so I went up a size without really caring.  Although a bigger size, I left with 2 great pairs of pants that are totally flattering and make my ass look AHHH-MAY-ZING!. This is huge for me guys.. HUGE! I think watching so much Stacy and Clinton has finally started to wear off on me!

On to the gym… Not only is it January, but its also new release week at the gym. For those non-Goodlifers out there, new release week occurs ever 6 weeks or so. Its when they release the new choreography for the group fitness. I had big plans to hit up Body Attack, but because of new release week it was required you sign up in advance. I failed to do this, so I had plans to do an interval run on the hamster wheel. However, this plan changed when just about every piece of cardio equipment was occupied. I decided to give the Arc Trainer a whirl. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD! I had no idea how much a) this works your quads/ass b) how great of a workout it is c) how much it makes you sweat like a mofo with the resistance cranked up! For anyone looking to switch up your workout, give this guy a try!

Even though my legs were pretty much cooked, I turned on EA Active when I got home and did day #8 of the 30 Day Challenge…. and guess what? It was a leg workout! Lovely. I’m pretty sure I’ll be written off tomorrow, but BRING IT ON!

Dinner wasn’t very pretty but it was tasty, easy and GREEN!

I may have to go to Montreal in the next couple of days to assist with some emergency work stuff which would involve working for the weekend. I’m not thrilled about this, but the saving grace is that I’m on holidays afterwards. We shall see.

I shall leave you with this picture of Lewis. I think he is fed up with having his picture take all the time… so he decided to sleep ON my point and shoot to avoid me capturing any embarrassing moments. Good thing I have another camera!

Question: What time do you get home from work? I usually get home at about 6h45pm. I finish work at around 4h30, head to the gym and hubby picks me up his way home.

Lately I’m hating getting home so late, but I love my gym time.

My work is never-ending, so... haha. Full-time school plus being an RA is tough.

I schedule my week out so I plan time for the gym. This morning I planned 2 hours for the gym, including travel time, so I ended up doing a 40-min run on the treadmill. It's just hard to take the bus from campus to the mall, work out, and then have to travel back.

Amy it is so funny that you asked this, because my post for tonight is going to address the same issue. I have been so frustrated lately feeling like I run from one thing to the next. I get off of work sometime between 5-5:30, and it seems like by the time I work out, make/eat dinner, shower, iron clothes for the next day, blog, etc. it's past bedtime!

I get home around 7 too. I don't mind because I only go in early twice a week with tomorrow being one---but I can't sleep!

I tried Annies tonight. YUM.

working from home and being a fulltimemom I find my day is flipped.
I love working from home but am notsomuch a fan of the fact that in order to work, get me time, get ready for the day with the child Im up at 4a :)

Yep-your cat looks annoyed.

I had to google Arc Trainer because I didn't know what it was. We don't have that at my gym but I would love to try it. I used to feel that way about the stepper. I would jump on it for a 60 minutes and be drenched and sore after but loving it!! Great job.

I get home from work around 5:15pm. If I could get into my gym (which I can't because it's too busy) after work I would get home around 7pm. Which I wouldn't mind. But it's impossible.

I get out of work between 6:00 and 6:30 depending on how successful I am at telling myself to STOP for the day. No gym days means home between 6:45 and 7:15 (ouch). PM gym workouts means not home til 8:45 or so....then dinner and "tomorrow prep". My fault though - my work day "ends" at 5:30 but I'm no good at dropping things and leaving when the clock strikes quitting time. This is something I've vowed to get better at during the course of 2010.

On the topic of Annies - I've never seen it here in the US...think it would your recipes work with regular old Kraft mac & cheese? Or should I be looking for a healthier/lowfat variety?

I'm at my desk before or at 7am and leave around 4. (50 min commute home). Mon-Friday I usually stop at home for a quick bite and then am out again for either run/spin from 6 or 7 until 8:30ish.
THis is why Sat has to be my cleaning day and Sunday my sit on my ass day.

Leaving lurk-dom here... have been enjoying reading your blog.

I normally get home between 7.30 and 8, maybe closer to 9 if I'm doing a body balance class - love my group fitness!

Well, I would love your life :-) To go to the gym on my way home...would be LOVELY! I work 10:15 - 6:15 and before you say "go in the morning" I'm also the Mom to two that need to be awaken, feed, dressed, on the bus and to the sitters respectively. So I am up at 5:45am, work out at home (well, throw a workout DVD of some sort in the player, and my treadmill bit the dust so I've resorted to jumping jacks and running on the spot in the basement - which sucks), shower, dress, deal with children, off to work. I also live about 40 minutes from work so most evenings I'm home by 7pm. How is that for a long, drawn out answer :-)

I try and take Stacy & Clinton with me every time I shop.. LOL. It's so true. The people who see you do NOT care what the number is on the size label, all they will notice is if the clothes look good or not!

When I work at my clients, I get home around 6:00 - 6:30, but I usually plan dinner ahead so my daughter can put it in the oven.

I either go take my walks in the mornings before going to work, being self-employed has its good sides, I start when I'm ready :) But sometimes I go take my walks at night, I drive to town 5 min and bring my Bella on a quick 45-50 min walk around town, we love it :)

Now you have me addicted to brussels sprouts, evil Amy :)

I love me some Stacy and Clinton! Congrats on the new pants! And you SO made the right choice in getting what fit instead of what sounded like a better number!!!

I get home from work around 9 or 10pm everyday (and reach work at 8am) so i'm envious that you get to leave at 4:30! And by 'home', i mean 'my hotel room' because i'm in management consulting. It's such a tough life, i feel your pain when you say you are overworked!

I love the arc-trainer! :) I use it all the time for cross training.

If your gym has a Precor AMT (adaptive motion trainer), give that a try...even better than the arc!!

I get home between 5-5:30, have dinner, hang with the J's, put little J to bed, and then head out around 8 to the gym, generally home just after 9pm. I will only go to the gym right after work one night a week, so that I don't miss too much time with my boys.

I kinda wish I could have your schedule - I think it would make getting to bed at a reasonable time a bit easier!
