Big news announced!!

Ok, so its not exactly top secret if you follow me on Twitter.

Here it goes:

I’m flying to Halifax in May to run the Bluenose Half Marathon with Lynn and Angie!!!!!

I told myself after my most recent disastrous half in May, that I might stop running races. My plan was to continue to train at that distance, but not run the actual race. Racing was making me hate a sport that I love.

I have a couple of  issues with races.

  1. The cost. Why pay steep entry fees to run? My Dad always bugs me about this, and I kind of get his point. Why do I need to enter an event to run 21k?
  2. Time goals. I’ve  beat my time goals before, but I’ve also missed them. On the occasions that I’ve missed them I tend to lose sight of the fact that I just ran a huge distance, and just focus on the fact that I sucked.

But, when these 2 incredible ladies starting mentioning the half marathon distance, I kind of got excited in my pants!

I’m sure I’ve gushed before about these 2… but I must do it again. The three of us have been “together” for just about 4 years now. We’ve seen each other through our ups and our downs, even though we lived provinces apart. I feel such a strong connection to each of them, because they just get me. Its as simple as that. One might think that there would be periods of awkwardness, but when I met each of them for the first time it was just like meeting an old friend. Cheesy, but true.

I couldn’t fathom the thoughts of not being there with them when they crossed the finish line. I couldn’t think of better company to run my 10th half marathon with!

A while back I posted confessed that I had gained 20 lbs since my wedding. I have a new goal, and I’m ready to go public with it.

I WILL RUN MY 10TH HALF MARATHON 20LBS SKINNIER.

Good thing I’m already down 8lbs (since I recommited) because I tend to gain weight while training.

I’m so pumped… you have nooooooooo idea!

This is why I heart you to bits! I have discovered running and realize that it is something that I enjoy SOOO much and it is all because of YOU (and Marie!) all of those years ago when I saw that it wasn't such a far-fetched idea for ME to try it too! Seriously, without you guys I never would have even CONSIDERED it just assuming that I wasn't cut out for it.

For me setting a goal for a half marathon is just as steep as a FULL and there is no one else I would rather celebrate it with because I know that you simply love to run and I don't have to worry about competing and I can just enjoy every single kilometer and then screach my freaking head off at the end! WOOOOOT!

Way to go! It's so wonderful to have people that just "get you" when you don't have that awkwardness, when you don't have to explain yourself or anything like that. I cant' think of any better way to run!

My goal is to run the NCM this May - so I'll be following you closely to see how training is going.

Love your committment my dear.

Now you have a goal to work towards....I need something as I'm struggling with motivation to train at the moment in this weather.

How exciting for all of you!

You are such an inspiration. Your honesty with your struggles and successes is refreshing.

The idea of a half marathon has floated in my head for a while now, but I'm a big old chicken $hit! Maybe that would be a good reason to tackle it. The longest I've ever run though is 10K. I will be cheering you on every step of the way!
