We have an accepted offer in on our dream house.
Now, we just have to sell ours.
Meeting our agent tonight to list our home.
(side note: I’m watching Y&R for the first time in months. Apparently Victor has been shot? NOOO)
I came home early to tidy up, but we still have a TON of decluttering to do. I’ve come to the conclusion, if I didn’t have any clothing I would be a neat and tidy person.
I think my plan will be to procure some big plastic bins and store everything in our shed. Thoughts?
Any tips on how to live in a house that’s listed? Particularly a house that we share with 2 felines and a pootchie?
Perhaps this is an option?
Its a good thing they’re cute!

You have to pack anyway...so start packing up all the unnecessaries and get a storage unit. No knick-knacks, no personal photos, no outlandish colors on the wall. People will look through your closets and cupboards, they want to see space...so clear them out and hang things up and stack things orderly. NO PET ODORS. Not everyone loves pets. Start neutralizing and keep pets outdoors as much as possible. Before a showing, pop in a batch of cookie dough so the house smells good...or pop something in the crockpot.... Look around your house for unfinished projects, nobody wants to come into a house with a to-do list awaiting them...hire a handyman if you have to and a house cleaner...you'll be rewarded with a faster sale! Good Luck!!
Oh so exciting!!!!
Congrats. That will be wonderful!
my thoughts are if it can live in a plastic bin in a shed - pitch it.
congrats on your dream home - that is just so exciting!!
Congrats and good luck! Exciting stuff.
Congrats on finding your dream home!
Congrats on your new dream home and best wishes on getting yours sold! I totally agree with Tina!!! Declutter, depersonalize, no pets if possible, clean, clean, clean...make it look spacious yet cozy.
I am SOOOOOO excited for you and your hubby! :)
I'm with ya on the plastic bins in the shed hehee.
Yup, pet odors are going to be your biggest issue for sure. I know a few people who can't stand the smell/fur...
Good luck!!
Congrats!! How exciting. We were in the same predicament - 2 cats, 1 dog and a small house. We really focused on keeping everything really neat. Whenever someone came for a showing, we actually left with the pets - as much as a pain that was, it helped.
Congratulations on the new purchase!
Goodluck with selling your house.
If it were me I'd be getting a maid service to come in and clean because you never know when someone will pop in.
We packed up all of the stuff that we didn't need: all closets were packed so that all off season clothes were out, old books, xmas stuff etc., any and all things we didn't need we packed up and stored them at MILs house (she had a storage room in her basement). All windows were cleaned with bleach so that they were as crisp and clean as possible (including screens), and we kept the decor as minimal (and classy) as possible. It completely does disrupt your life when you have pets, but that depends on your pets too. Lucy wasn't the type of dog that could be left in the house during viewings because she'd freak the hell out so any time there was a viewing we'd have to come home from work and take her out and wait while they were viewing (25 minute drive each way from work). But since Jersey is friendly, she may be ok just left there when people come.
De-cluttering was super important and I staged areas in the house (extra sitting areas with lamps etc). I ended up liking it more then than before!
Your house will sell and before ya know it, you'll be in your dream house! So exciting!!!
Congrats on the dream digs!
Congrats on the new house how wonderful. What oh no Victor's been shot? I haven't watched Y&R for years I really should start watching it again. I'm sure a lot has changed.
