Alright guys.. back to the kitchen you go!
This week your challenge is to make a dish that features WHOLE GRAINS!
What is a whole grain you ask?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wholegrains are cereal grains that contain bran and germ as well as the endosperm, in contrast to refined grains, which retain only the endosperm. Wholegrains can generally be sprouted while processed grains generally will not sprout. Wholemeal products are made from wholegrain flour.
Common wholegrain products include:
- rolled oats or oat groats,
- hulled (not pearled) barley,
- popcorn,
- brown rice,
- whole wheat flour,
- sprouted grains
- whole wheat bread.
Get creative, do some research and get in the kitchen and whip up a delicious, but healthy meal!
This challenge is worth 2 points.
When you complete the challenge, don’t forget to comment on this post letting everyone know that you’ve participated!

Great... the perfect opportunity for me to bust out my grandma's recipe for whole grain taffy...
Is quinoa a whole grain? I feel like I'm finding mixed reports on that online.
Awesome! I just bought a bag of quinoa that I need to use! I've been meaning to look for a recipe and this challenge will give me the impetus I need to get started. Thanks, Amy!
Expect the meal post on Thursday. I might even throw in a picture!
Oat groats are the same as hulled oats, which I looooove and have fairly often! Yum!
Yes! Easy bonus points for me...I eat whole grains every day! In the spirit of this challenge though, I'll try a new recipe and blog soon about it!
