20 minute challenge!

This week you're going to do something that I love.... RUN!

Now, don't panic!

When I was in highschool I was the kid that LOATHED soccer because it involved too much running.

I played on the volleyball team, and we had to run for 3 minutes in the warm up. I had to coach myself mentally through each and every one of those 3 minutes telling myself "THIS WILL NOT KILL ME".

We had to run 2 400M laps of the track in gym class... I was lucky if I could make it 100M.

The 12 min fitness test run? Forget about it!

That being said... running COMPLETELY changed my life. It not only made me fitter and stronger, but it made me believe in myself. I CAN do anything I put my mind to with a little hard work and determination.

This week, I want you to hit the streets for 20 mins. Thats it.

If you run 30 seconds of those 20 mins... great. If you run 2 mins of those 20 mins, perfect. If you can run the entire 20 mins, even better. Bottom line, I don't care how long you can run for... but I want you to give it 110%. Promise me that!

To make it fun: load up your Ipod with some fun tunes, grab your dog or your kids and bring your camera along to take some pictures along the way. Show us your neighborhood, and the smile on your face when its over! :)

THIS CHALLENGE IS WORTH 1 POINT!

Thank you to the lovely Tasha for reminding me that not everyone likes to be tortured during their workouts! :)

Woohoo! I'll be accomplishing this tonight with the Running Room's 20 Minute Challenge! :)

I'll have my hat from the RR to prove it (they give out special hats to those who participate)!! :)

:) I love this. When I was over 350 lbs, I used to dream of running. In my dreams, I'd run like a kid, my arms outstretched feeling the wind. Now a-days I run when I can, just for the feeling. Today, however, it's going to have to be on the treadmill in the gym. I'm still far too heavy to go run the trails in the nearly 100 degree heat!

Thanks, Amy!
This, I can do :)

I'm already done my workout for the day but have already planned a run for tomorrow. Will be sure to take my camera along for the run!!

I am exactly where you were mental-wise when you were in Highschool.
I still struggle with running. With our Booty Camp I'm forced to run more than I ever do (which is um... never .. unless I chase my cats around the house) but I am still not that great.
I will squeeze this challenge in somewhere (hopefully tonight). I like earning points and right now its a great motivator! hahaha - that's the competitive side in me!

Thanks for this workout!!

I did try the other two but found them too challenging for my fitness level so it will be great to be able to accomplish this one!

Thank you for organizing this and for all the time you put into it.

The Clean Eating Challenge really got me motivated again yesterday as I was in a bad place all last week and couldn't pull myself out of it. This did the trick!

Check out podrunner.com!! You can download them from itunes. They have some great free podcast downloads that really help keep pace when running. I've loved them - and it doesn't get better than free!!

This is great timing for me. I just got new running shoes that actually fit me correctly and I'm planning to start a couch to 5K program anyway.

Whoohooo! A challenge I can do and am excited about!! I think I'll be testing that jogger out soon!! :)

All right! I can do this one! Today is a good day. :o) I'll probably be the one who runs 30 seconds of that 20 minutes, but I'll give it my best shot! Must remember to bring camera...

I'm glad I read this before I started on my exercise today. I couldn't decide between a walk and a bike ride.

When I was in school, I did the 12 minute run with little problem, other than an asthma attack at the end (and no inhaler then, either!). *sigh* Those were the days...

Yay, perfect challenge for me! Ran for 45 minutes this morning! :-)

Running is my FAVOURITE way to exercise!

Remind me - does Wednesday workout have to on Wednesday? I thought this was the case, but can you confirm? Sadly, I don't think I'll earn the point this week, I ran yesterday, today is supposed to be a swim day, then running room tomorrow (I was going to skip the 20 min challenge to fit in the swim). Tri-training means my week is pretty strictly scheduled! Also, if Wednesday workouts are for Wednesdays only, would it be possible to postWednesday workouts Tuesday night, so morning exercisers could squeeze fit it in pre-work? Just a thought?

LOL - that's my personal challenge this week too! I've started a personal 30 miles in 30 days challenge - keep in mind I'll be running 2-3 times a week, not a mile everyday (as if I had the time). Anyway - first run yesterday, 35 min running all but the last 3-4 minutes. Tick that box!
