Guest Post #4: I Do This For My Mom

If you've read anything on my blog, it's apparent that I love me my food. I crave the food Guy Fieri features on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, I love restaurants, and I cook in a vain effort to recreate the most amazing meals but with less fat. Well, the effort isn't THAT vain, I suppose. My mom has diabetes. My dad's mom had diabetes. I have an apple-shaped body. I'm afraid of heights, spiders, and Type II Diabetes.

I'm running the Athens Marathon in November partly to raise money for Team Diabetes, and partly to get in shape.

Your challenge, if you choose to accept it, is to find a charity, any charity (bonus points if the charity is significant to you), and to run a race/do a bike ride/walk around the block for it. Like in Yoga and in life, Intention Is Everything. Your reward is feeling good for what you've done.

p.s. if you REALLY feel like donating to Team Diabetes, you may here: https://ocp.diabetes.ca/pledge/cspledge.asp?prId=td&oId=2663028&tId=10822

Thanks :)

Many years ago, before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I thought diabetes was a really scary disease. Now, I know that it's scary, and it can have very bad consequences. But I do believe that my Type 2 diabetes can be controlled with diet. I'm trying, anyway. Best wishes to you and your family.
