Recap

Bare with me... you're about to read a MARATHON post.

Good news, is that I survived my week in Montreal. Barely. I had to drink a lot to endure dinner parties with bad company! Its sad (embarassing?) to say that today is my first alcohol free day since last Sunday. Eeek!

The conference was great. Facilities were just mediocre. As I mentioned before, the internet was almost $20 a day. Not a big deal really, but lets do a little math. There were 300 people at this conference. Lets say that 200 of them required internet for work use. That would be an extra $17 000 the Sheraton was making off the tax payer. Ridiculous really.

Another interesting observation I made over the week was one relating to my lifestyle. Not to toot my own horn, but it became pretty evident that maybe I am healthy! :) My boss is, well, exactly what I used to be. The train station was exactly 3 blocks from the hotel. She took a cab. She got winded going up 2 flights of stairs. She didn`t want to shop because there were no stores she liked. She got irritated waiting for me to shower before dinner because I had exercisd. Part of me was kind of sad for her, but the other part of me was so happy that I wasn`t that kind of person anymore. I looove being active and HEALTHY!!

Now, on to the weekend! Lefty`s Legacy. Who is Lefty? Lefty was my Grandfathers nickname. He lived his entire life loving sports, specifically baseball, more specifically the Yankees. He was a very talented ball player and those who saw him play said that he should have been drafted to the MLB. He is somewhat of a legend in my hometown for breaking a window at the local hospital with a baseball hit from the diamond across the street!

This weekend my family decided to enter a charity ball tournament. Despite the weather being horrible (read: wet, rainy and pretty much the worst conditions ever) we had SUCH a fun time! 3 generations of and spouses played.... and despite not winning the tournament, we had a blast. Its times like these that remind us the value of family.

Following baseball Andrew, Jersey and I... along with my cousin Scott and his wife April headed up to a friends cottage for the evening. Lots more booze was drank and good times were had. It was a super chilly night to be sleeping in a tent, but we survived! I was the middle of the sandwich between Jersey and Andrew!

Back to the city last night for dinner and cards at another friends. Dinner was delicious: Ribs, taters and salad. I was in charge of desert and brought angel food cake and strawberries. Yum!

Today has been a catch up day of sorts. Its my first real day at home since last Sunday, so I cleaned, dusted, did laundry...all the fun stuff! I did manage to take Jersey out for a 7k run. She is also feeling the effects of the weekend, because I pretty much had to drag her the whole way! Lazy girl!!

For lunch I BBQed a Lean Link sausage, served on a hamburger bun with sliced apples on the side.
Headed out to the grocery store to stock up on some eats, arrived home and sat down with a Green Monster to blog and relax a little.

I am looking forward to ROUTINE this week. As much as I like to travel, I am also very much a home-body.
Come back later to check out my Pampered Chef contest. I am finally ready to begin! Its a good one... I promise!

Seeing your boss probably showed you a dark reflection of what you could have been.

Good for you for getting fit and staying healthy. Kudos!

That is ridiculous about the internet fees. We had a similar situation in Newfoundland, they were charging $0.50 for each LOCAL call. Seriously, companies are so greedy sometimes.

You lead a totally healthy lifestyle and should feel happy about it!!

The baseball tournament sounds awesome, it's so great that your family is active together.

Everyone seems to be making Green Monsters lately, I need to try one.

ha...see in my post I have all of the groceries to make my own green monster this week!

So glad you saw how far you have come through the rose colored "work trip" glasses.

I'm in the same place as you today being so frigging glad to be home and back to my routine. What I learned is that although I think I'm on my game, I'm so not. I talked the healthy talk all week, but did not walk the healthy walk (almost literally!).

Isn't it great you were able to see how healthy you are. I mean you saw your boss enjoying her unhealthy ways and you know the side effects of that, be proud you got away from it.

Sounds like you had a blast this weekend!!

I hear you on routine. I need mine back.
I am waiting to join the green monster bandwagon after the Ottawa race weekend. God knows how those would affect my weird system.
