Many of you were inquiring about my experience at Body Flow the other night.
Did I go? YES!
Did I like it? Kinda
Did I love it? Not yet.
Was it a workout? HELL YA!
BODYFLOW™ is the Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.
Most of you know that I'm a high impact junkie. Mellowing out was a huge challenge for me, but overall I really enjoyed this class.
Yoga snobs tend to turn up their nose at this class, because its not really yoga, tai chi OR pilates. My running buddy/spin instructor/yoga teacher friend Crys pointed out, that although it certainly isn't any of the above it is 1) a great place to start and 2) a hell of a good workout for your abs/back.
I can certainly attest it to be a good workout. My shoulders were definitely feeling all the downward dogs!
While I can't see myself making this a regular part of my routine, I definitely enjoyed it and will go back for more.
Confession: I skipped the relaxtion part at the end and went and did HIIT on the treadmill. :)

I really love a lot of these fusion workouts... and they're surprisingly vigorous.
I haven't heard of this one, but have been doing Nia, which is a blend of dance, yoga and martial arts. This one actually sounds wonderful.. I'll have to see if they offer it around here!
haha, I actually giggled out loud when I read your confession. Why does that NOT surprise me, Amy?!!
:)
I used to do the class pretty often with my friend Mel, but I ended up distracting her too much as I am tai chi uncoordinated and she ended up in a fit of giggles watching me do things backwards.
And I'd do the class after half an hour of running/half an hour of weight training. I think we share a brain :P
ha! That is SO YOU! lol I used to do bodyflow when I was a member of the goodlife before I lost any weight and I used to like it. I knew absolutely nothing about yoga or tai chi or pilates and it was a great place to start. Getting the workout was the most important part anyway!
Glad you tried it (you hardcore mama you!) :-D
I am also horrible at slowing down- this class might actually be enough different stuff to entertain me though. Thanks for mentioning it.
HEY. i am not a yoga snob, and i don't turn my nose up at bodyflow. I just said it's not yoga, or pilates, or tai chi. But it IS a great place to st... hmm. I think this has already been written.
In any case, it's fab. Try Michelle.
p.s. try sticking around for the relaxation next time. it REALLY makes a difference. do a run/class before Flow. it makes it feel 100x better. :)
