I have a love/hate relationship with the show. I enjoy watching it, but it really gets me angry when they get upset about "only" losing 3, 4 or 5 lbs.
It also upsets me in the finale when they don't spend any time talking about the losses of the people at home! These people often lose 60,70,80 lbs but it's not enough to make them the winners so they hardly talk about it.
I get so annoyed with that show. These people work harder than ever before in their lives, but if they don't lose an obscene (and, by most medical accounts, unhealthy) amount each week, they're a massive failure. Good lord.
Also - your journal is so inspiring! I just started my own weight blog to try and keep accountable for the last 13 lbs I've been trying to lose on Weight Watchers for the past... well... ever. :)
I can't watch that show. I (and I'm sure A LOT OF BLOGGERS) could rant all day about how that show is so terrible for normal people trying to do weight loss a normal way by setting down unrealistic expectations. I don't think I've ever lost more than 3lbs in a week and that was cuz of a stomach flu...
Yeah, it makes me want to smack someone. That's a LOT! I've lost like 9 lbs on the first week of a new diet, but of course after that, it slows WAY down...and I am always happy if I lose 2-3 lbs in a week! Celebration!
I started my weight loss battle in 2003 at 267lbs by following Weight Watchers.
Almost 7 years later, I've lost almost 100lbs and am keeping my weight down by enjoying foods that I love in moderation and exercising.
Welcome to my blog. :)

That's the exact reason I cannot watch the show. I hate it when they loose 7 lbs and are ready to go home... WTF?!
YES!

I'm yeah! And OMG the HORROR on their faces with Nicole's gain. They all covered their faces so not to look directly at her!
I Know!
I have only ever lost 5 lbs ONCE in one week and I was friggen over the moon about it!
It DROVE ME CRAZY!!
I was watching it with DBF and he said to me: what would you do if you lost 5-7 pounds in a week? I just said I'd cry from shock.
