I must say though, it was a great day to live in our Nations Capital. The Parliament buildings were lit up beautifully tonight... makes me a little nostalgic!
Andrew is gone to the hockey game tonight, so I'm hanging out solo. I had to go to the grocery store to pick up some essentials, and bought a pre-cooked chicken. I whipped up a huge bowl of my latest salad obsession, and cooked some quinoa.
I ate the chicken first, and decided to add the warm quinoa to the salad. The warm/cold combo was delicious as it made the goat cheese melt a little and marry everything together. Sooo tasty!
I have a challenging weekend ahead of me. Andrew's birthday is tomorrow, and mine is Saturday. I sense cake and bad eating ahead of me.Must..... stay........ strong!

JEEZ - come cook at my house!! Your food looks SOOOO good!!
It must have been AMAZING today with Obama coming!! and crazy at the same time (*cough* snipers *cough*) lol
I was on the National Post's live blog today getting all the deets and pics of the visit. One thing that puzzled me was all the emphasis on "Beavertails" being this big Canadian thing. WTF? I had never even heard of them before and I've lived on the East Coast and Toronto. It seems to be an "Ottawa" thing, not a Canadian thing at all. And kind of makes Canada look dorky, backwards and unhealthy. Don't get me wrong, they sound delicious . . . but "home of the beavertails" is not what I want Americans to think of when they think of Canada!
Tash, there is a Beavertails stand at the waterfront here! They are huge, sweet, and crazy delicious. I thought they were a East Coast thing cuz I'd never heard of them either.
OK, and now that I've used Amy's blog for talking to Tasha...
hehe
I freaking love deli chickens. I meant to get one at Costco this weekend and forgot! I don't know what it is but they taste sooooo much better than boring chicken at home.
Yum. thats one good looking salad.
I'm not one to be dishing out advice so all I can say right now if have a FANTASTIC birthday weekend. You know that no matter what you can always bounce back (at least that's what I'm telling myself).
HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!
Your salad looks yummy yummy!
I can only imagine how hard it was to get around Ottawa yesterday. Have strong weekend. Have a great Birthday celebration.
Happy Early Birthday!
Mine is Sunday and have plans to celebrate today, tomorrow and Sunday! lol
I've never quite been able to make an edible quinoa entree at home, but I have had some good quinoa in one local restaurant. I would like to try some more, but it's very uncommon here in Oklahoma.
