Night #1 Report

Wow... I totally forgot what it was like to have a dog in the house!

Night #1 wasn't a complete success... but it wasn't horrible either. I think she's just confused to as what is going on. She was having trouble settling down, so I took her for a wet walk/run at about 1am to tire her out. That seemed to do the trick until about 5h30 this morning when Andrew took her out. She's now currently looking pretty content laying on the mat near the door looking out the window.

The other thing, she's never been exposed to cats before. Surprisingly Samuel and Lewis are handling it like pros. Sam has the "fuck you this was my house first" attitude, but he's not being rough at all. The odd hiss when Jersey investigates him too fast, but there have even been some platonic nose smells! Lewis on the other hand has found a new home on top of the ironing board for the time being!

I just wish it wasn't pissing rain out today.

Beautiful dog... hope the cats adjust quickly.
I"m trying to decide if I'm going to run or not.

I just wanted to tell you how cute your new doggy is! She is adorable.
She looks much older then 10 mths old. Did you rescue her from a shelter??
It may take a couple of days to find a routine that she and youself can get used to.
Your cats on the other hand may take longer to love her!

She is a beauty! I'm sure she'll settle down over the next week, if not the next couple days.

What a beautiful baby for you! My in-laws (who I lived with for 2 years) have 2 beautiful big labs that look just like Jersey and I miss them a lot. They are very huggable dogs :)

She is such a doll!

What happened to her previous owner? I'm sure it will take her a little while to adjust, but she'll be fine soon.

My 2 cats were not big fans of my dog when he came along and was all up in their fur. One cat hasn't hit the floor since the dog came along (she lives in a world above dog-reaching distance) and the other cat is buddies with the dog (and by "buddies" I mean they chase each other, lick one another's ears, and eat each other's food).

Jersey will be a wonderful addition, I bet. She is gorgeous.

She's beeeeeeeeautiful!!! And I love her name too :-)

WHen I brought Lucy home, our kitty Chandler acted the same "WTF" way and didn't want much to do with her, and it was mostly Lucy trying to torment Chandler into playing, but as time went on, Chandler occasionally instigates the playing. Granted, the "playing" is sometimes disguised as sparring in the middle of the rec room floor, but it is playing and it's cute.

She is SO CUTE! Introducing a dog to cats can be tough. We got Tucker, my yellow lab, and had to introduce him to our cat Lucy who was almost 6 at the time (holy, she's almost 13 now!). Then 5 months after we got Tucker, we bought a kitten named Darcy (Darcy Tucker, go figure, eh?). Strangely enough, Darcy is best friends with Tucker. Those boys love each other.

Enjoy your doggy!

She's gorgeous Amy! I'm sure she'll get comfortable with you and your home in a couple of days and all will be well.

We had a similar problem with the cat/dog situation when DBF and I moved in together. He had the 8 year old dog that had lived with cats before, and I had an 11 year old cat that had never even seen a dog. The dog wanted to be friends, but the cat FREAKED. Now, the dog just ignores the cat, and occasionally the cat will step over the sleeping dog if he absolutely has to.

Congrats!

I hear ya about introducing cats to dogs. I'm doing the same thing as I just recently moved in with my bf who has a large dog. It's taking some time but I am seeing progress that that is encouraging!

Love the pics. What a cutie!
